Well Billy and I have been married for a month now! I have to say married life is absolutely wonderful. I love coming home to him every night. Our photographer was amazing. Pictures are courtesy of Linden Claire Photography. Our cake was made my lovely Aunt Harriett from Harriett's Creations. I could not have survived the day without the most fabulous wedding director ever! Mrs. Shanika Butts was an angel that day she also does wedding and event planning and owns The Bridal House near Norhtlake mall. I think the best advice I have from my wedding is to definitely have a day of director. Shanika saved my life! :)

Saturday is probably my favorite day of the week... well actually I take that back Monday is because I get the whole day off while everyone else is at work! wahaha!

Tonight we are going camping with some wonderful friends. We went out last night to this Mexican Restaurant with most of the same group and had an AMAZING time!

Currently I am sitting in the shop bored....

Wedding planning is going well! If you are looking for an amazing LBD go to White House Black Market. They seriously have the most gorgeous black dresses right now. I almost wish I was on of my bridesmaids because they get the cutest dresses!!!

Old Hollywood

Just made this hair accessory. It reminds of something I would see in an old Hollywood movie! The crystal in the middle is vintage so it could be the something old for a bride. Let me know what you think!?

Today was a gorgeous day and I am oh so thankful for it because yesterday was frrreeezzzzzing!

Billy has been working ever so hard on our future house! Yipppee! I can not wait to live there with him. :)

I am super excited about my bridesmaid luncheon in the morning and dinner tomorrow night with my family and Billy's family. (you see they have not met yet) It is going to be so fun to get everyone together.

I gave www.megmichelle.com a much needed face lift today. I constantly feel like I am falling further behind on keeping up with all this web stuff!!

Cheap wedding tip #4: Make your own cake stand. I have seen several gorgeous cake stands made out of a candle stick glued to the bottom of a plate. You can also use upside down cups, glasses, or vases instead of a candlestick.

This week I made my biggest custom wall decor piece ever (so far)! It was 16 feet long! Thank you to Classic Party Rentals for giving me the opportunity! Here it is:

This is such an easy and relatively inexpensive way to decorate those bare walls! They can be made in any color and any design pretty much. The possibilities are endless!! I am always up for custom orders. :)

Cheap Wedding tip #3: DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT WATCH PLATINUM WEDDINGS! unless you have an astronomical amount of will power... you will finish watching with ideas of things you never thought you needed. UGH! But on a serious note: forget having to have a sit down dinner, go old school by having an afternoon wedding and just do dessert and/or appetizers.

Snow Day

So I know this post is a little late. Since getting engaged, I feel like I have not relaxed one bit. This was about two weeks ago when we got snow! We never get snow... Billy and I had so much fun playing with Hudson. He was jumping around like a bunny rabbit. Check out the camo coveralls. Billy made me get them hehe. I will say they have come in handy.

Budget wedding tip #2: Search for centerpieces at Habitat for Humanity Restores, Goodwill, Salvation Army Stores, and garage sales. I got 12 vases for my centerpieces at the Habitat store for $8. Only 110 to go!

My favorite picture is the one where Hudson is sniffing the air. He is the craziest puppy!

My Wedding Inspiration

Billy and I have set our date! August 28th here we come. The wedding planning is coming along wonderfully. We have booked our venue, I found my dress (totally recommend Satin and Lace...the store I got it from). It looks so expensive but was super affordable yay! Billy and I are working with a very tight budget so stay tuned to find tips of doing a wedding with no money. It is definitely a challenge but neither of us can imagine spending much on just one day, we will put that towards the honeymoon or our house or just save it. Here are some pictures I am using for inspiration...

First budget tip: My sweet mom is growing our flowers which will save lots of $$ but it is also sentimental because it is something she loves to do and is spending her precious time growing them for our beautiful day! I can't wait!!

We're Getting Married!

My wonderful (still not used to saying this word) fiance and I are getting married! He proposed to me on Saturday, January 23rd. I was completely surprised (sort of). I mean I had been expecting sometime soon but had convinced myself it wouldn't be for probably a few more weeks. You see our two year anniversary is Wednesday and we decided to celebrate on Saturday. I knew that the two year date was a benchmark and that pretty much any day after that he would possibly ask me to be his wife. The night before I was hanging out with my best friend and she asked when I thought Billy would propose. I said it could be tomorrow...it could be in three months...I have no idea! Well it was tomorrow!!! I started sensing some mischief when a few people kept asking me what I was doing for the weekend and when was I going to be seeing Billy, but I brushed it off.

Here is how the day went:

I worked in the shop from 10-2 Saturday morning and promised Billy that as soon as I got off I would head straight to his house. So at about 3:00 I finally made it out to Billy's place (I was on the phone with him pretty much the whole drive). He wasn't there yet because he was at his dad's chopping firewood (and showing off my ring). On the phone he asked what did I want to do for our anniversary suggesting that we go to Morrow Mountain to look at the deer and just enjoy the beautiful weather since of course we had to something "romancy" on our anniversary... I begged him to let us take Hudson (our lab puppy). He immediately said no! I kept pleading Hudson's case. Come on honey he would love it! No! Oh well.... We are on our way now... Morrow Mountain is so gorgeous I could not wait to go see it! It is our special place. About a year and a half ago he took me there for the first time and it wasn't long after that I knew Billy and I would be together forever. This is a picture from our first trip:

We got there, parked, and walked toward a beautiful spot overlooking the park. We stood there and looked at the sign where so many couples had written of their love for each other. Billy turned me to face him and he said "You know there is something I've never told you?" "Yea..." "I love you" "I love you too!" Then Billy started going down to the ground on one knee and pulled out this little red box. He said "Will you marry me?" I don't think I even let him get the whole sentence out of his mouth. I grabbed the ring and put it on the wrong finger and screamed "YES".

We are both so happy and will be going back to this spot soon to profess our love for each other on this sign hehe.

My gorgeous ring! He was afraid I wouldn't like it, but it is the prettiest ring I have EVER seen!

Project Veil Complete

The first ever Megmichelle veil is now finished! This is a bandeau style birdcage veil. The flower actually feels like a real flower (but it's not sadly). This veil can be worn in many different ways as demonstrated below by my beautiful roomie/model! I don't know what I would do without her. This veil is for sale. It has two metal combs that are used to hold it in place. The flower is removable and can be worn alone in your hair as well. With this feature you can ditch the veil at the reception and just put the flower in your hair. Let me know what you think!

Bird Cage Veils

I just finished ordering all the materials to make what will hopefully be a gorgeous bird cage veil. This is the first one I've ever made and I am so excited about trying it out. I used to want to be a wedding planner but have since decided I just want to design accessories for the wedding (should be a little less stressful). I am creating this veil for this beautiful bride to be: Linden. She is a wonderful photographer. I wonder who will be taking pictures at her wedding?? I know if I ever get married she will be taking pics at mine.... Here are some bird cage veil that I am drooling over... Hope mine turns out this good. Will have pics up when it's done! Ps... I am still loving my extensions!!!

Headbands grow on trees?

Thanks to my Unk they do! He is just such a wonderful handyman and I can't thank him enough for making this for me:

He also made me this wonderful wall of earrings!

And these fab necklace/scarf/purse racks!

He made all these out of items that were just lying around! To make the tree you just find the main piece: you could use a dead branch or a metal piece (Unk used an old lamp base that he turned upside down). Then you need a pot and cement. He place the lamp base in the pot and poured the concrete around it then spray painted copper.

All of these items could be made again in different forms if anyone is interested, Unk (I call him Unk because that's what I've been calling him since I was just a little girl since he is my dearly loved uncle) will be glad to create these for anyone wanting to purchase similar items.

New Do!

This weekend I went a little crazy and got hair extensions. I have always wanted long hair (my hair grows slower than Christmas) and now thanks to Ms. Teri I do! She was so sweet to put them in for me. Here is a picture of me with my ever so handsome man:

So tonight I am watching my super sweet and beautiful little sister. She is such a blessing. I got the sweetest e-mail from her yesterday saying that she could not wait to spend the whole day with me. I also can not wait to spend the whole day with her. We are going to eat pizza, watch Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs (if the Redbox isn't out of it already), and we might just get crafty and make some new jewelry. Hannah is going to be a future Megmichelle girl I just know it. :) I hope everyone else has a fun and relaxing night as we will!

I just found an awesome Etsy spreadsheet for 2010 on Chickenpants blog. I have come to the point where it is time to sit down and make some goals for this next year. I got to make some chedda (as the guy at Blackfinn put it last night). As he continued to guess Abby's name wrong. Ashley, Aaron (sorry that's a boys name dude!)... Glad we didn't stay long. Anyway, the spreadsheet can be used once you figure out how many sales you want to make for the year and it is a good way to keep track of that. Thanks to Etsy for sending out the e-mail. If you are an Etsy seller this could be very useful to you. Until tomorrow...

I just logged into my computer and saw this picture on my desktop that I had to share:

Isn't my Grandma just gorgeous?! Not to brag or anything... I just love this picture and it's vintage vibe. I think this picture was probably taken in the late 70s or 80s sometime. I was born a few decades too late. I would have so fit in in the 50s and 60s! Oh well....

I did research how to make garters, I did drink soda (oops), I didn't work out (double oops), didn't read a book... Not going so well today! Got started on one though! Now if I could just get that boyfriend of mine to get me my gym membership I could start on the next.

I also uploaded some new items to Etsy today and am working on my new website. How are your New Years Resolutions going?

Anyone have any good book suggestions? I'm a sucker for romance. :)

New Year for Megmichelle

I am so excited about 2010. I have many goals for this year:

Start working out.

No more sodas.

Drink 8 cups of water everyday.

Expand the Megmichelle product line to include purses, garters, veils, and t-shirts.

Read one book per month.

Blog everyday.

There are many more things I would like to do, but I think if I accomplish these I will be doing well. What are your plans for the new year??

I can not contain my excitement. Kali Butterfly featured the Going out tonight Ring on her treasury list along with several other beautiful items from other Etsy shops. A treasury is basically an assortment of Etsy items that have a common theme. The more a list is viewed and commented on the "hotter" it becomes. It's Finished!

I have worked on this necklace literally since June putting in a total of over 60 hours! It is now finally complete! YAY! It is ivory with a sterling silver clasp measuring a total of 15 and 1/2". I can recreate this necklace in other colors if requested. Gorgeous and classic! I can just see this on a beautiful spring bride (wink wink).
